Andrew returned from camp on Saturday. On the drive back from “up north,” Bob put him on the phone. For the first time, Andrew didn’t sound younger than he is. In fact, for a second, I thought maybe his voice changed during that week he was away.
He had an incredible week. He earned two merit [...]
Andrew is at camp and I’ve been writing him a letter every day. I end by pasting in a picture I hope he’ll like: our dog, Sparky, Naruto, Pokemon. So, last night, after finding a nifty picture of Naruto and Saske (if you have to ask, you don’t need to know, trust me on this), [...]
Noodler Trish Milburn got the call yesterday. She sold two young adult novels to Razorbill, the young adult imprint for Penguin Putnam. She’s a multiple Golden Heart finalist and winner. She’s been writing and submitting for eleven years. Whenever I get down, I always think of Trish and how long she’s been at it. Go on over [...]
Andrew is away at camp, so Kyra and I have planned a certain amount of “girls together” time. This means I’m constantly in search of movies-you-can-show-your-four-year-old that I can stand to watch.
For two nights, we’ve been watching Singin’ in the Rain. I’m afraid this wasn’t as successful as Much Ado About Nothing, although Kyra really liked [...]

The opposite side, table by day, [...]
Coutesy of Jen:
You Are a Ham Sandwich
You are quiet, understated, and a great comfort to all of your friends. Over time, you have proven yourself as loyal and steadfast. And you are by no means boring. You do well in any situation – from fancy to laid back. Your best friend: The Turkey SandwichYour mortal [...]
I admit, it’s easier to use than D-land, but unless I want to download WordPress, there’s stuff I can’t do in the HTML. Not that I’m all that great. Still it’s nice to know I can stare under the hood of my blog, so to speak.
So. Thinking.
Thoughts?
Updated to add: Okay, it’s so much easier to figure [...]
A blog in mostly photos, since I’m exhausted.
Some pre-party karate, just to get the blood going
No party’s complete without some large inflatable thing to crawl though.
Or a large inflatable thing to sit on.
Candle malfunction. It took Andrew something like five tries to blow them out.
You know she’s totally coveting the inflatable princess/prince chair.
Nothing says happy [...]
We went to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum today with my mom. The kids were all excited about the new maze they have, Andrew was intent on the Japanese gardens in hopes of catching a fish, and a good time was had by all.
Andrew has his “pinecone buddy.” Kyra has attitude.
Which way next?
A view from the [...]
